Of Fashion and Photography

I've been a fashion of photography for I'm not sure how long. I remember my dad teaching me some of the basics, like how to hold the camera, how to focus the lens, how to frame a picture using the trees in the photo, and also how to appreciate the beauty of the world around us. He even got me my first camera: a Canon Rebel xTi, we just don't have in my closet and occasional use. However, lately I've begun to realize how behind the times I am when it comes to digital SLR cameras. And so, I'm going to save up for a new camera! There are a few at Best Buy that I have been eyeing up, but I'm not positive where to go from here. I should back up...I should start by elaborating and share the other side of the story that has to do with my photography.
When I first started taking pictures of my dad, I basically took pictures of nature and When we went camping. Even as I started traveling the world I basically took pictures of the scenery. However, through my experiences blogging and reading the blogs of others, I have come to learn that I want to be able to photograph people and fashion, too. As weird as that might sound coming from me, I find myself drawn to blogs picking fashion as we go through my own closet and realize that between me and my friends, we really have some neat and unique outfits and I'd like to share those.
So, I guess the point of this post is to actually ask for help as well as to inform. I'm saving up for a bunch of new things and I'm also going through my closet as a 22-year-old and getting rid of my clothes from(dare I say it?) high school. I hope to have some of those posts of calls coming up soonish…
I know that this might seem a little out of character for what I usually post, not to mention I have a fitness blog (to try am currently failing at...), but I guess I really didn't have much of a goal when starting this blog. While that might not change, I'm going towards that makes me happy and what allows me to express who I am.
.
.
.
Okay, longest post I've had in a while, but as a closing thought: anyone have a suggestion for a camera to get?

Love,
Sara :)

What I Keep in My Purse

So, I've been looking around at other blogs and this post about what people carry around seems to be a necessity for any blogger who talks at all about their lives. Hence, here is my attempt at the same thing!

This purse I actually bought in Seville, Spain when my mom, sister, and I went there spring break 2012. I love it and have used it ever since! It is a good expression of me and my style: for one it signifies travel which I love to do, it's also not too girly as in its a shoulder bag (like my tomboyish side), and it carries what I need! What more could I want? It's not big, but it's big enough :)

My two favorite buttons :P

And the contents: I try to carry around my most current read (currently Heat Wave by Richard Castle from the library) in case I get somewhere and need something to do for a bit like I'm sitting in a waiting room or something, a notebook (this one was a graduation gift from my younger sister from Walmart, just to jot down things during the day that I may want later), my wallet and change purse (very useful indeed), an extra hair tie, pens and a pencil, Kleenex, ibuprofen (the white unmarked bottle), Chapstick (I love eos right now! It works so well), and my phone currently covered by a broken Iron Man Avengers iPhone case.

For those of you wondering, my keys are only in my purse when I'm out and about and have my car, otherwise they stay in a bowl in my room above where I hang my purse.

Thanks for reading guys! Have a great hump day!!
Love,
Sara :)

Year of the Dresses

Hey guys, I know it's two posts in one day and I could probably wait to post this until tomorrow, but I don't want to get caught up in something else and forget tomorrow. Anyways, I entered a contest through one of my favorite online stores/places to buy clothing and accessories: Modcloth. I did have a post from earlier about some of their dresses (here), but this contest would ensure that I would add some more posts about my fashion, or at least once a month along with what I post otherwise. I know that I'm not exactly a fashionista in the regular sense, but I'd really appreciate a vote or two from people who do look at this blog (I love you all!). To vote for me, please just click here, and if you have a facebook you can vote (I think you might have to accept an app for facebook, but think about helping me? :P). You are all wonderful for reading my blog, and whether or not you vote I still hope that you will continue to read and will pass it on to others so that they can read it as well :3

Sara :)

If Only....Casually Feeling Cute

Alright, so I happened to stumble upon an online boutique called Mura, and instantly have fallen in love with several of their pieces!! They are at an affordable price...if you live in Australia, which I, sadly, do not :( So, these dresses serve as great examples on my "If Only" theme for these posts!
Mura is a trendy place to buy clothing that is beautiful and not too expensive. Granted, it is again only for women and the dresses tend to be shorter than my father would let me out of the house in, I do find that I like some of these pieces. As they say "make your fairytale come true", and I believe that is part of the fashion of dresses! Here are a few of my very favorite dresses that I would definitely buy if I 1- had the money and 2- was in the same country...damn international shipping!

This first dress is called the Bower Bird dress, and I love both the front and the back. The bright blue color of the dress paired with something simple like a pair of sunglasses, headband or a silver bracelet and light shoes makes for a simple outfit that can still make a statement at the same time. On the other hand, you could also add a brown belt, a hat and head out barefoot (or maybe it's only me who enjoys being barefoot more than wearing shoes :P). It also comes in black if you want a less bright, but still classy and fashionable look!

The second dress is called the Elly Ponti Dress. I prefer the red dress (I must have something with bright colors today!), but it also comes in a very pretty black. If I were to buy this dress I would get the black just because it would be used for more formal events. This dress is again one that would be easy to dress up, and it wouldn't take much if you didn't want it to; a simple necklace and/or bracelet and earrings would work just find, along with heels or flats.

This third dress is one that normally I wouldn't pick out, yet I'm not sure if it's because of the model or the name or what but I really like it here! It's called the Strawberry Milkshake Dress (gotta love that name, I got a dress from modcloth a while back that was called something about Chocolate Milk!), and I think it is adorable! The reason why I wouldn't normally go for it is because it has quite a bit of lace and I'm not normally a lacy-type girl. I still can't explain but this dress would be one that I would seriously consider purchasing! Adding a belt (like the photo...), and some brown shoes and this is a great summertime dress!

Alright, that's what I have time for today! What are some other places you guys have heard of that are over seas? Would you travel to another country for a dress you fell in love with? Solutions? Help? :P
I hope you have a wonderful week! I'm almost done with finals, so I know that after Tuesday my life will become a thousand times less stressful, at least for a few weeks!
Happy Sunday (at 2 am!)!
Love,
Sara :)

Silver Lining Scarf from Modcloth

I do love scarfs, have for long time! I just got a new scarf this past week, which is exciting! I routinely go onto a site called ModCloth, which if you have never been to, you should! It's a really awesome site that sells vintage as well as vintage inspired, cute clothing! I've got several things from them hanging in my closet.
This buy was for a $14 dollar scarf, called the Silver Lining Scarf. I'm glad that I could order one before they were out of stock! Sadly they aren't being sold anymore :(, but that just shows how sweet they looked I suppose. True to the name there are some silver sequins knitted into some of the areas, giving it a sparkle! Well, here's my not so good picture for me wearing the scarf.

Thanks for reading guys! Happy Tuesday, well late tuesday :P
Love,
Sara :)

Where I've Been Looking....The Sweetest Occasion

Alright, so as a blogger, I also look at other blogs for some inspiration as well as for ideas of things for me to do! Recently I stumbled upon a blog called The Sweetest Occasion. I have already spent so much time looking at her different DIYs, wedding pictures, drink mixes and fashion plans. I can't help it, I would go so far as to call it slightly addicting :P
Being pretty new to blogging, or so, I find that looking at other blogs that have become successful really helps me to develop and learn about what I can do to improve my own blog. The Sweetest Occasion has already taught me two things: be yourself and consistency! Being yourself is important and that's what people seem to like (whoda thunk?! haha) and readers like consistency, they like to know that there will be another blog posting ever so many days or every day or every week day or the such.
DIYs are some of my favorite things to look at. While I'm a bit slow on the actual doing part of it, I'm working at it! I hope to get some things going this summer and maybe on into the year if I get the time (which may or may not happen...). Some of my favorite DIYs that I have found so far on The Sweetest Occasion include:
  • Potted Herb Favors - I would probably end up using these as more of actual pots for myself, but giving is always nice too!
  • Painterly Party Wares - I'm thinking maybe for my next party? Blue or purple would look amazing as well as the pink!
  • Bon Voyage Garland - while this is from another blogger, it is still I found it on The Sweetest Occasion, and since I and friends of mine travel a lot, I feel like this would be appropriate :)
  • Glitter Dot Swizzle Sticks - I do like glitter as much as the next girl haha, and I just had my first swizzle (a grapefruit swizzle from Water Buffalo, DELICIOUS!), so these appealed to me right away
So I think you should all go check out this blog cause it's pretty awesome! A kudos bar for you my dear, your blogging makes me smile because it always has such bright ideas and is pretty to see as well as to read.

Thanks all!
Love,
Sara :)

If Only...Casually Feeling Cute :P

Ok, I admit it, I'm guilty. I look for things that I can't afford or have no real use of. I''m sure many of you do what I do and "window shop", whether that be while physically at a store or while online. I wanted to share a little bit about what I'm currently window shopping for.
The first big site is ModCloth. I have been a fan of ModCloth for years now, and have gotten quite a few items from there, but lately I have been having a lack of income due to no having an actual job (an internship, yes, but it is an unpaid one :P), and since ModCloth isn't always cheap I have not been able to get many of the things I wish I could get :( so here I go with a few things that are on my wishlist for what I call "Casually Feeling Cute :P". This is for the times when I just wanna feel cute and these are dresses that I would really love and would really feel cute in, at least as far as I think since I haven't actually tried them on yet.
This is called the Marble Collection Dress, it just captures my each time and makes smile. I don't normally go for the floral look, but here I think that it works really well and the flowers on the shoulder just add something that for some reason I really like!

This dress is much simpler, it is called the To Diner for Dress. While this is much simpler than the last dress it is more of what I would wear daily and is what most people would think of being more "my style". I guess that means more of a tomboy-ish style which is what I held for most of school until later in college when I started getting into this sort of stuff :) I likes it though!

Meet the With the Mostess Dress. First off, I really like the name of this dress. Secondly, I'm noticing a pattern in the dresses that I pick, at least these ones; they aren't too revealing but they will still show off figure and such which is nice. I'm kinda an athletic build so it's a bit difficult to find things that I really can wear well, and to add to it I'm short so these things together can make shopping at department stores more difficult especially when everything is in an extra long...but hey! I won't complain...too much.

Well, these are the dresses that I have right now for window shopping, I'll have more later on I'm sure. This really wasn't very much, but I'm feeling a bit lazy today. This is my first installation of If Only...Casually Feeling Cute :P I hope you enjoyed it!
Have a wonderful night,
Also 3 days til I'm in the Dells :D I'm so excited!
Love,
Sara :)
