Moving is officially complete!! Well, minus the random three boxes sitting out my the washing machine...I should get rid of those in the morning... We have been settling in quite nicely, had the boys over to visit Sunday for spaghetti and to watch The Lorax (my first time, and it was so sad but soooo good!!! I love that book and the movie too!) and the girls came over Saturday night for a wine night, both nights were super fun! However, it has become a bit more apparent that we are out in the real world now and once you move out of your parents' basement, it is plain to see how much they do for you. Everything from laundry to food to shopping to locking the door at night, it's the little things that we find we miss the parentals for every so often. Now, don't get me wrong, I've been aching to move out ever since I moved back in, just because that's how I am, but it is nice to not ever be home alone or to know what is going around in the rooms surrounding you (I have no idea what the neighbors are doing for instance and they are just on the other side of my bedroom wall, kinda weird now that I think about it....), or to know how loud you can blast your music before someone complains :P Then again, maybe it's just me. I understand that I am not the center of the world, but sometimes it's nice to pretend?
Our new adventure has reminded me of a song by a band that I really enjoy. They are a more well known band than some of the ones I've featured here before, but that doesn't really mean much now that I'm thinking on it :) Anyways, here is "Ain't It Fun" by Paramore.
What were some of your move-out experiences, when you were left without the help of your Mom and/or Dad for the first time?
Well, it's official: I'm growing up. Today I sent in my first application for an apartment. I can't remember exactly what the form is called, but I think it was an application. It cost some money and the managers at the building are going to run a background check on me and my future roommate (not Matt, although maybe in a year or two it will be Matt :P). The apartment we are trying to get is pretty sweet, in our opinion, and I can't wait to hear if we get it or not (we really hope so, obviously) and will be here to share it with you as soon as I know!
On another page of my story, Matt and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day! We gave each other cards and gifts. We both made some sort of food for the other: I gave him some sweetly addicting peanut butter and Nutella cookies while he gave me white chocolate covered fruit (pineapple, strawberries, and raspberries), which I am currently picking at making my hands quite sticky! He also got me a huge card that talked about the past year and a half we have been together and was really touching and made me super happy! Finally, his sister got us Wonder Woman and Batman little plushies which are freaking ADORABLE!!! I mean seriously, they are so cute! We went to Olive Garden for dinner, which is pretty much our go to for our fancy dates because the service, wine, and food there is delicious! We then went to Half-Price Books (guess whose idea that was :D) and went back to his house to hang out. It was really a wonderful night! I always have so much fun with him and I was so glad that I got to spend Hearts Day (well, technically, Saturday since we both worked all day/until 1030pm on Friday) with Matt as my Valentine!
Hey guys, so I'm heading to my first ever professional conference tomorrow! It's on injuries in athletic youth and I'm definitely going to be low on sleep for it but I had a date night with Matt (which shall come up later :P) and then got distracted by my cat sitting in the shower. Well, standing by the time I got a picture, but yes! Have a good night all!!
For those of you who haven't figured it out, Matt and I are dating, a few months now, but since we spend most of our time in different states, it does make that whole dating thing a bit difficult at times :P But tonight we went on a fun date to a local bowling alley. We went there with the intention of playing 2 games and ended up playing almost 7! It turns out that tonight was a Thunder Bowling. This means that for $11 per person, groups can bowl as many times as they want for 2 hours starting at 9 pm. Since we got there at 8:45 pm we just started a little early (we got lost cause I forgot where the bowling alley was :P) and ended a little early as well. We had a blast! For the first few games we bowled normally, meaning neither of us ever scored over 124, but for our last one and a half games we tried bowling with our non-dominant hands, which was quite entertaining, or going granny style. Although we didn't score even 50 points on that game, it was still worth it in my opinion because we had a lot of fun doing it and were laughing nearly the entire time!
